ARRL Centennial

A memorable amateur radio event!

The ARRL Centennial was a wonderful experience! The weather was great and there was an excellent turn-out. I stayed overnight in Hartford so I could attend the banquet. There were plenty of exhibits to visit and I attended a number of excellent presentations.

I hooked-up with BOB - W1YRC. We made the rounds. Along the way we had lunch with BOB - WB1P, Ginny, and Will K6ND.

The highlights for me were:

  • Meeting Pietro Begali
  • Seeing a real Enigma encryption machine from WWII
  • A presentation on the future of DXing by Bob Allphin - K4UEE
  • The Banquet (Great food!)
  • A presentation by Nobel Prize Laureate Joe Taylor - K1JT concerning DXing with weak signals (Pictured toward the end of the slideshow)
